Obituary for Elizabeth Lawson Acosta

Elizabeth ("Liz", "Betty") Lawson Acosta, a native and resident of Jackson, Louisiana, passed away on Jan. 16, 2018 at the age of 86. Liz loved and lived life to its fullest. She loved music and dancing, and could get just about everyone to their feet when she sat down at a piano. She loved sports and was an avid LSU football fan. She was proud to represent the third generation of her family to reside in the historical "Pipes House" in Jackson. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is survived by her three children: son, Kenny Acosta and his wife, Susan; daughter Jayne Bossley, and daughter Meg Johnson and her husband, Jeff; brother, Clyde Lawson and wife Mary, grandchildren, Kalyca Acosta, Rachel Acosta and Bill "Zeke" Acosta, Pierce Bossley, Noel Johnson and Christian Johnson; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Edward Lawson and Elizabeth Pipes Lawson Stoltz, and her sister, Alice Lawson Ward. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who gave us hope and held our hands throughout Liz's long battle with her illness. Most particularly, much love and gratitude to Dr. William Russell and his staff with Pennington Cancer Center, and all of the nurses and staff with Hospice of Baton Rouge...the love and guidance you gave were immeasurable and comforting. Visitation Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until services at 1:00 p.m. at Jackson Presbyterian Church, 3017 Bank St., Jackson, LA, with burial to follow at Jackson cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Cancer Society or Evergreen Life Services, 920 Main Street, in Pineville, LA 71360. May she rest in peace in the arms of the angels forever.
