Obituary for George Micheal Sikes

Sikes, George Micheal “Papa”



A resident of Jackson, our beloved “Papa” died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. He was 74 years old and was retired from East Louisiana State Hospital with 18 years of service. He was a US Army veteran.



Visitation will be at Wilson Community Church on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 from 10am until service at 12pm conducted by Rev. Joe Ratcliff. Burial will be in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson.



He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nelda Sikes.



Children, Debra Hopwood and husband, Richard, Donna Sikes and husband, James McNamara; Dina Haney and David Sikes and wife, Gayla.



A brother, Eugene Sikes and wife, Darlene Hopkins.



7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.



He is preceded in death by his parents, Ovie Clifton and Mattie Peterson Sikes and a brother, Clifton Ovie Sikes, Jr.



He was a member of the VFW in Jackson.
