Obituary for Dr. Victor Fernando Rodriguez-Madera MD

Dr. Victor Fernando Rodriguez-Madera, 51, a resident of Zachary, LA and a native of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. He worked for DPI Pain Management and practiced at Lane Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, LA.
Victor was a beloved son, the one and only brother, compassionate father and loving husband. Although these words are honest to his name, they barely scratch the surface of who he truly was. Victor’s love for his family, friends, and those around him had no limit. He lived every day to its greatest potential, inspiring confidence, amity and love in everyone he touched.
He studied at Dr. Pila HS in Ponce, PR. Completed a BA in Chemistry and Anthropology at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. Received a Doctor in Medicine degree from Ponce Health Sciences Center. He completed his Anesthesiology Residency at LSU Health Sciences Center. He was Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the LSU School of Medicine Dept. of Anesthesia from 1997-1999. From 1999-2008 he worked at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital and West Jefferson Medical Center in New Orleans. In 2009 he returned to his hometown PR and founded the Palms Interventional Pain Clinic. In 2016, he returned to Louisiana to join DPI Pain Management, until the time of his passing.
Dr. Victor Rodriguez was a Diplomate of American Board of Anesthesiology and of the American Board of Pain Medicine.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dr. Myriam Aracelis Ortiz-De Jesus; one son, Victor Fernando Rodriguez-Ortiz; his mother, Milagros Madera-Cuevas; four sisters, Sorgalim Rodriguez of Westfield, MA; Tilsa Ana Maria Rodriguez and her husband Christian Folch of New Orleans, LA; Irma Ramos and her husband Kenneth Ramos of Tucson, Arizona; Diana Rodriguez and her husband Andres Velazquez of Orlando, FL.
From Sorgalim’s family, God-daughter and niece Paula Andrea Vazquez and niece Gabrielle Lauren Vazquez; from Irma’s family niece Kristie Ramos and nephew Ken A. Ramos; from Diana’s family niece Adriana Velazquez.
From his wife’s family his niece Ana Patricia Henriquez and his nephews John Steven Henriquez, and the youngest Ramon Andres Cosme. His sisters-in-law and spouses; Luisa Ortiz and Luis Rosado, Maria Ortiz and Juan Jose Ruscalleda, Lilliana Ortiz and Steven Henriquez , and Sally Ortiz and Jose Cosme.
He was preceded in death by his father; Victor Fernando Rodriguez- Martinez and his mother -in -law Myriam De Jesus Ortiz.
He was an outstanding physician and wonderful human being and will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers please may donations to the National Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice.
