Obituary for Thomas Miller Bagbey Jr.

Thomas Miller “Tom” Bagbey, Jr. died peacefully on May 10, 2017 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 64. Tom is survived by his wife, Tonya Dunaway Bagbey; children, Dorothy Aline (Ali) Bagbey, Thomas Miller III (Trey) Bagbey, Kathleen Brooke Bagbey, and Davis Bret Bagbey; granddaughter, Kathleen Claire Humphreys; siblings, Sharyn Marsh and husband William “Cooter” of Sondheimer, Mary Nero of North Fort Myers, FL, Ricky Bagbey of Lake Providence, Robbie Bagbey of Lake Providence, Patti Shivers and husband Evan of Kilborne, Debbie Fortenberry and husband David of Transylvania, and Susan Driver and husband Johnny of Oak Grove. He is also survived by his step-children: Jack D. Lavergne, III and his wife Holli, sons Mason and Madox and daughter Mila; and Adrienne Graham and husband Ben and daughters Alex and Corinne. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Miller Bagbey, Sr. and Dorothy Hamley Bagbey of Lake Providence. Tom was born on July 9, 1952 in Lake Providence, LA. He served in the US Army for six years and lived in Germany for more than ten years. After moving back to Louisiana, Tom began working at River Bend Nuclear Station as a Supervisor where he worked for nearly thirty years. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10080, having served as Grand Knight, and was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary. His children remember him as a devoted father who passed on his sense of humor, best cooking skills, and top secret recipes. There will be a visitation on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA from 5pm until 8pm and then on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10 am until funeral mass at 11am, conducted by Father Karol Nedza. Burial will be at Louisiana National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lane Regional Medical Center for the attentive care, and to the dedicated staff of the Carpenter House.
