Obituary for Vivian Marix Kelly

Died Saturday, May 6, 2017, born November 29, 1916, age 100. She was a native of Plaquemine, a resident of Baton Rouge 12 years, and a resident of Zachary since 1950. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters Aquinos, and a member of St. John’s Altar Society. She never met a stranger. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Joe and Judith Graves Kelly, Ethel; Robert M. (Bob) and Donna Stubbs Kelly, Zachary, LA; and four granddaughters, Ginger Kelly Wilkins and Kris, Slaughter; Kacie Kelly, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Lindsey Kelly and Kristen Bateman, Baton Rouge; and Hannah Kelly Schmidt and Caleb, Clinton; four grandsons, Dr. Knox Kelly, New Orleans; Graves Kelly, Baton Rouge; and Edwin (Win) Kelly, Zachary; Dr. Trevor Stubbs and Megan, Birmingham, Alabama; and three great grandsons, Reid Marix Kelly, Layton Michael Dousay and Marix Keefe Kelly; two great granddaughters, Vivian Jo Schmidt and Kayden Wilkins, one brother, Carlysle Marix and wife Judy, Plaquemine. Preceded in death by husband of 43 years, Leonard Kelly; son, Len Kelly, Jr., mother and father, Josephine Rills and Gervais Marix, Sr.; six sisters, Vera Ramirez (twin), Evelyn, Magadalen, Geraldine Marix, Elmire Caffarel, and Ida Leblanc; two brothers, Gervais Marix, and Joseph Marix.
Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., in Zachary on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Visitation will resume the next day, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church at 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am celebrated by Fr. Jeff Bayhi.
Pallbearers are Knox Kelly, Graves Kelly, Win Kelly, Trevor Stubbs, Caleb Schmidt, Reid Kelly and Layton Dousay. Honorary pallbearers are James Kelly, Bryan Kelly, George Ramirez, Johnny Caffarel, and Joe Marix. Special thanks to her caregivers, Peggy, Debbie and Marty. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Silliman, Catholic High and St. John Catholic Church.
