Charles was a proud U.S. Marine, serving in special forces in the intervening years
between the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Following his military service, he was an
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy, and then joined Local 198 and worked as
a pipefitter for over forty years.
Charles was a simple yet complex man, whose main interest in life was taking care
of those he loved, most especially his beloved wife Theresa. “Little Feather” was
very proud of his Choctaw/Chickasaw heritage, loved to read, and relished teaching
moral lessons with his own colorful stories. He enjoyed the company of his
grandchildren so much, and was looking so forward to meeting his new little great
grandchild due soon. We are encouraged by the thought of his first little great grandson
John Paul coming to meet him as his soul was commended to the Lord, and
we are certain they are in heaven now hand in hand playing and laughing in great
joy.
We are especially grateful for the kind and gifted staff of St. Clare Manor who took
such beautiful care of Charles in his final months of life, as well as the caring staff of
Clarity Hospice. Finally, words cannot express our gratitude for the love and mercy
brought to Charles in his last weeks of life by trusted priest Fr. Jason Palermo, which
brought this fighter to finally lay down his armor, shrouded in protection by St.
Michael the Archangel, to be received home.
Requiescat in Pace, and Semper Fi, Daddy.
