Obituary for Joseph Julius "Jodie" Daniel Jr.

Born July 1, 1924 at Elm Park in West Feliciana Parish to Joseph Julius Daniel, Sr. and Winnie Foil Daniel, he died on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at his home in St. Francisville. From a young man until his death, he was a cattleman and farmer, still working his cows on horseback until 10 years ago. He worked over 40 years for Daniel and Truitt, Inc., managing their farm operations. He was a big supporter of 4-H and FFA and served on the West Feliciana School Board for 39 years. He loved riding horses and until recently always owned a horse and a dog.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Lois Austin Daniel, one son, Sheriff J. Austin Daniel and wife Sarah of St. Francisville, two daughters, Sue Casford and husband Brand of Panama City, FL and Sallie Rogers and husband Coon of Centreville, MS. 5 grandchildren, Dixie Casford, David Daniel, Sam Rochal, Danielle Walden and Crystal Rogers, Eight great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and a Great great grandson due in July 2017.
Preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother in law, Ethel D. and Jimmy Bourgeois.
Pallbearers will be Brad Rochel, Randy Walden, Cody Escher, Derrick Daniel, John Morgan Thompson, Chris Rogers. David Daniel, and Eric Warthern Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Daniel, Morgan Riley, Pete Bryant Joe Pete Maryman, Ronnie Bourgeois, Ted Jackson, Brant Casford, Coon Rogers Wayne Harvey, Melvin Harvey, Tim Pholman, Lester Jarreau, Mike Dreher, and Alphonse Lewis.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm at United Methodist Church in St. Francisville. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 from 9am until service at 11am conducted by Rev. Harold Babin and Rev. Mike Clark. Burial will be in Star Hill Cemetery. There will be a graveside Masonic service.
The family would like to especially thank Jesse Perry, Archer Lee and Clyde Vessell for their many hours of helping with the cattle. Also, thanks to Loretta Lewis, Kim Tate and Connie Washington for their many hours of sitting with Maw and Jodie. Not only did they sit with them but the loved and cared for them as well.
