Charles Engle Rissler passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Our Lady of Lake Hospital, due to complications after a fall on January 14, 2017. He was 76. Charles was born on April 5, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After working for two years in Franklin, Va., in the paper industry, Charles moved to Baton Rouge to work at Crown Zellerbach, James River and Crown Vantage for 31 years. After retiring
from the mill in St. Francisville, Charles worked for Walk Haydel engineering firm in Deridder, La. and Dixon Correctional Institute in Jackson, La. until his final retirement. Charles loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. Charles was known for his beautiful roses. He loved the family farm in Charles Town, West Va. where he spent many hours fishing and swimming. Charles loved sharing stories and never met a stranger. A kind and gentle man, he adored his family. Charles is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dick Rissler of 48 years; Daughter Erin and spouse Brandon Trent; Daughters Danielle and Robyn Rissler; Granddaughter Olivia Trent; Sister Wilma and spouse Michael Nemec; Brother William and spouse Barbara Rissler; and Sister-in-law Margie Rissler. Charles is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Rissler and Parents Forrest Engle and Helen Ruth Rissler. Charles was a member of St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm and continues on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Zachary from 12pm until Mass of Christian burial at 1pm conducted by Rev. M. Jeffery Bayhi. Graveside service will be at 3:30pm at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Albany, La.
