Obituary for David Gordon Bennett

David Gordon  Bennett
A resident of Zachary, David died on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his home. He was 96 years old and was retired from Ethyl Corporation. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and Korean War. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 from 12pm until service at 2pm conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara “Bobbie” Bennett and a daughter, Ann Garrison of Denham Springs. 2 grandchildren, Kelly Garrison and Kathy Devall and husband, Gordon. 2 great grandchildren, Vincent and Stacey Devall. A devoted nephew and his wife, Mike and Ginger Kent, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lessie Bennett, brothers, Earl, Everett, Richard, Bill, Julian, Donald and Fred Bennett. Pallbearers will be Randy Lavergne, Kelly Garrison, Vincent Devall, Gordon Devall, Brennon Easley, and Mike Kent. He was an avid golfer and a Charter Member of Fennwood Hills Country Club. He was also a member of the Zachary High Sports Hall of Fame.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Zachary.
