Obituary for Capt. Carl V. DeLaney

A resident of Woodville and a native of Tunica, he died Monday, January 9, 2017. He was 84 years old. He was a lifelong riverboat captain and a US Navy veteran. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 5pm until 7pm and continues on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 9am until service at 10am conducted by Rev. Jesse Means. 11:30 Graveside service in Rogillio Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Alsup DeLaney. His children, Carl T. DeLaney and wife, Kharon B. and Tammy DeLaney Ryan and husband, Alan D. Sisters, Linda Ann DeLaney Sharpe and Patricia DeLaney Rogers. Numerous grand and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye DeLaney Chenevert and a son, Ronald Matthew DeLaney. His parents, Carl and Josephine DeLaney and a brother, Terral Charles DeLaney. Pallbearers will be Chris Chenevert, Tim DeLaney, Jr., Cody DeLaney, Grant DeLaney, David Ryan and Brennan Ganey. Carl was an avid woodworker and cat fisherman. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, co-worker and friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association.
