Obituary for Herbert Emile Guidry Sr.
Herbert “Herb” Emile Guidry Sr., a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Bayou Sorrel. A loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 80, at the home he shared with his daughter and son-in-law. He was a US Army veteran.
Herbert was a retired sheet metal worker with Ferrara Fire Apparatus and a member of Baton Rouge Sheet Metal Union with over 50 years of service. After retirement, he went to work part-time for his longtime friend at G.N. Gonzales where he stayed employed until a few months prior to his passing. He loved his kids and grandkids and was the best daddy in the world.
He is survived by his daughter, Terri Dupree and her husband Travis of Plaquemine. He is survived by sons Chad Guidry and his wife Julie of Watson; and Herbert Guidry Jr. and his wife Felicia of Lufkin, TX; his beloved grandchildren: Dylan Plaisance and wife Alyssa, Brandi Plaisance, Stevi Plaisance, Kalem Guidry, Marigaye Guidry, Justin Edwards, Christi Guidry, Aaron Guidry, Meagan Guidry; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Barbara Piper and Renee Warner; five brothers, John (Sonny) Guidry, Louis (Deedle) Guidry, Ronald Guidry, Donald Guidry, and Joseph Guidry; and special friends L.D. and Debbie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Guidry and Lula Latil Guidry; son Michael Guidry; and sister-in-law Hattie Pendarvis. Pallbearers will be Travis Dupree, Dylan Plaissance, Justin Edwards, Chuck Pendarvis, Ronald and Donald Guidry. A very special thanks to Mrs. Shirley and Comfort Care Hospice of Plaquemine for the loving care they gave him in his last few months.
Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc in Zachary, LA on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 11am until funeral services at 12noon, conducted by Rev. Gordon Atwell. Burial will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery.
