Obituary for Jewel Earl Ravencraft Sr.

Jewel Earl Ravencraft, Sr., 87, a resident of Wilson, LA, died on Sunday, November 20, 2016. He was retired, after working for 32 years for Kaiser Aluminum. Visitation will be at Wilson Community Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 8:30am until funeral services at 11:00am, conducted by Rev. Joe Ratcliff, Rev. Alvin Hall, Rev. Harold Babin, and Rev. Wade Akins. Burial will be at Eastern Star Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys Nabors Ravencraft; two daughters, Betty Ravencraft Stott and husband Joe Stott of Slaughter, LA; Cynthia Ravencraft Armstrong of New Orleans; one son, Jewel Earl Ravencraft Jr. of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Ravencraft; mother Lena Duck Ravencraft; sisters Arvie K. Torrance and Weader Sabella; brothers Allen Ravencraft and Woodie Ravencraft. Pallbearers will be Harry Breeden, Michael Courtney, Ray Williams, Damon Nabors, Travis Nabors, Johnny Garig, Kevin Garig, and Rusty Knighten. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Stott, Micky Garig, Ronnie Brown, Randy Maglone, Talmadge Bunch, and Hal Ware. He was a veteran of the US Army. He served as the Mayor of Wilson, LA for sixteen years. He was the Fire Chief of Wilson and a Fire District Board Member. He also served as the Manager of the Wilson Water District and a Manager of the Gas Utility District #1. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family.
