Obituary for Tonya Valle Calix

A warm smile, a happy thought, a killer laugh: if you knew Miss Tonya, you’d soon know her by all three. Tonya Calix started a journey to rejoin her husband on October 16, 2016. Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras she emigrated to the U.S in 1963 to raise a family of six (four girls Rosa Maria, Irma Leticia, Sandra Ivette, Olimpia “Tita” Swindler); and two boys, (Roberto Alonso and Daniel Antonio). Miss Tonya and Mister Roberto spent more than 42 years in Baker and have innumerable folks that formed her extended family. She resumed studies after her children were grown and had a rewarding career in records administration at Angola. Her last address was at Lane Memorial Nursing Home where the staff adopted her as their own. The Calix family wishes to acknowledge the unbounded support and love from the staff at Lane Memorial Nursing home and the love of the communities of Baker and St. Francisville who helped in ways the Calix family may never fully know. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc in Zachary, LA from 5pm until 7pm and then on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 10am until Rite of Christian Burial at 11am.
