Obituary for Dennis Bernard Flurry

Dennis Bernard Flurry, 84, a resident of Jackson, LA, died at his home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 21, 2016, after a battle with cancer. He was retired, after working as a superintendent at Rubicon for over 30 years. He was also the previous owner of Napa Auto Parts Store in Zachary. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 6pm until 8pm and then on Monday, July 25, 2016, at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, from 10am until funeral services at 12:30pm, conducted by Pastor Stephen Byrd. Burial will be at Louisiana National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean S. Flurry; three sons, Roger Flurry of Central; Dennis L. Flurry and his wife Donna of Zachary; Paul Flurry and his wife Rhonda of Prairieville; six grandchildren: Brian Flurry and his wife Jennifer; Amy Flurry Williams and her husband Anthony; Nick Flurry; Kristopher Flurry and his wife Jada; Ryan Flurry; and Claire Cotten; four great-grandchildren: Cody Flurry; Elizabeth Flurry; Peyton Williams; and Paisley Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Sallie Guillotte. Pallbearers will be Brian Flurry, Nick Flurry, Kristopher Flurry, Ryan Flurry, Earl Havard, and Cody Flurry. Honorary pallbearers will be Murphy Painter, Gerald Bourgeois, Charles H. Slocum, and Ewell “Bubba” Powell. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and he received a good conduct award for his service in Korea. He loved stock car racing and his favorite puppy Callie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carpenter House Hospice care and St. Joseph’s hospice, in recognition of their caring staff.
