Obituary for Dorothy Dixon Guins

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor future, not any powers, neither heights nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38

Dorothy Dixon Guins, 95, a resident of Zachary, LA since 1954 and a former employee of the Bank of Zachary, where she worked for 34 years, died on Sunday, July 17, 2016. She was born in Hope Villa, LA. Visitation will be at the Zachary First Baptist Church on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 10am until funeral services at 1pm, conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Baton Rouge. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Guins of Zachary; two sons: Ronnie Guins and his wife Brenda of Madison County, MS; Alan Guins of Copiah County, MS; one sister, Loretta D. Brignac; one brother, Vernon L. Dixon; grandson Shawn Guins; great-grandchildren: Carter, Ceaton, Logan, and Dianna Claire. She was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Guins; her parents, John L. and Bonnie Kizer Dixon; siblings, Eva D. Sholar, Estelle Dixon, Elva D. Wheat, John Dixon, Malcolm Dixon, Aubrey Dixon, Rev. Miner Dixon, Bonnie Dixon, and Hilda Dixon; and grandchildren Alan P. Guins Jr and Angela D. Guins. Pallbearers will be her nephews. She was a member of the Zachary First Baptist Church since 1954 and she served as a Sunday School teacher for 35 years. She was also a member of the Womens Missionary Union. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zachary First Baptist Church or the Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, LA.
