Jack M. Abel died at 2:20pm on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Clarity Hospice’s The Crossing. He was born July 9, 1930, he was 85, a native of Grenada, MS and a resident of St. Francisville. He graduated from Julius Freyhan class of 1948 and attended Southeastern University. He was a foreman and a supervisor at Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill for 34 years. He served in Japan during the Korean War. A visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 5pm until 7pm and then on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 9am until religious funeral services at 10am, conducted by Pastor Mike Clark. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loraine Martin Abel; three daughters and sons-in-law: Marian Watts and Duayne Watts of Zachary; Kathy Hill and David Hill of Denham Springs; Laurie Patin and Perry Patin Sr. of St. Francisville; and a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie Welch and Kathy Welch of St. Francisville; grandchildren: Lacey Jewell and David Jewell, Perry Patin Jr. and Randi K. Patin, Brandi Gunter and John Gunter, Bethany Luneau and Michael Luneau, Jamie Hill and Beth Hill, Jack Patin and Sarah Patin, Emily Suir and Dane Suir, Stephanie Hill, Robert Hill, Beth Olivares and Joe Olivares, Adam Watts and fiance Sydney Barrnet, and Nicole Aubin and Jason Aubin; great-grandchildren: Gabe Jewell and Jake Jewell, Alex Patin and Valarie Patin, Savannah Gunter and Logan Gunter, Aurora Luneau, Sam Suir, Jack Suir and Parker Suir; Carson Olivares and Elise Olivares, and Kylie Aubin. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.
