Obituary for Thelma Travis Whittington

Thelma Travis Whittington, 68, died on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Lane Regional Medical Center. She was a resident of Jackson and a native of Clinton. She was retired from Eastern Louisiana Hospital with 27 years of service. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home Inc. in Zachary on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm and continues on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Second Baptist Church, Jackson from 9am until 11 am service conducted by Rev. Marc Gregorie and Rev. Clark Fooshee, Jr. Burial will be in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Michael Whittington, one son, Robert Mitchell “Mitch” Whittington and wife, Mary Beth of Orlando, FL and a daughter, Saundra Whittington Rosso and husband, Frank of Angola, LA. She is also survived by two brothers, David Travis and Benny Travis. Grandchildren, Kaycee Rosso, Britt Rosso, Kody Whittington and Peyton Whittington. Great grandchildren, Lucy Rosso and Bennett Rosso. Her beloved pet dachshund, Miles. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Victor Travis and Ida Mae Travis Alford and a sister, Vickie Travis. Pallbearers will be Kody Whittington, Kaycee Rosso, Britt Rosso, Heath Williams, Pat Williams and Bryant Woodard. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Smith and Larry Mills. Special thanks to Annissa Woodard, Sandy Smith, the Tuesday Night Bible Study Gals, and the entire staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and Lane Regional Medical Center for all your support, care and compassion given to Thelma. She was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church and the Tuesday Night Bible Study.
