Obituary for Betty Mae Wendt (Kaufman)



Wendt, Betty Mae Kaufman, 88, died on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Ollie Steele Burden Manor in Baton Rouge.
She was a resident of Pride​ and a native of Brusly. ​
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Cissy" Wendt-Forbes and husband David, Kenneth "Kenny" Wendt and wife Evelyn and Thad Wendt and wife Heidi, grandchildren, Kimberlee​ Wendt​ Madison and husband Bart, Grayson Paul Wendt, Shelby Grace Wendt​,​ Margaret Leigh Forbes​ ​and great granddaughter, Mary Margaret McCu​llar and two favorite first cousins from Dallas, TX, ​Charles Larry Edwards and Nelson Hensley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Wendt, Parents, Thaddeus and Zula Gurney Kaufman​ and​ grandson, Sterling David Forbes​.​
Pallbearers will be Mike​ Peters, Joe Broders, Russell S​ch​neider, Ken McQuirter, Larry McQuirter and Michael Davidson. Betty was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Baton Rouge and Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. She was 50 year member of Deerford Danes Home Demonstration Club. She was a past Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Troop Leader, 4-H Club youth leader and Lutheran Summer Camp Food Director. She was past member of Friendship Force and Ethyl Corporation Wives Management Club.​ ​ Special thanks to all the caretakers at Ollie Steele Burden Manor for the loving care given to her. Also, thanks to the Baton Rouge Hospice Society​.​ In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Zion Lutheran Cemetery Fund or Baton Rouge Hospice Society.
