Obituary for William Clark Fooshee

I will go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
William Clark Fooshee Sr., 90 years old, died April 29, 2016 at his home in Jackson, LA. A retired Fire Chief from East Louisiana State Hospital. He served as a Seamen First Class in the US Navy from September 1943 to January 1946. He was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church. Born in Linden, Alabama, he was the son of the late Gustaf Grover Fooshee and Lucy Etta Bell Fooshee. He was married for 64 years to Myrtis Jane Blackard Fooshee. He is also survived by his three sons: Clark Jr. and his wife Gail; Robert Allen and his wife Ivy; and G. G. and his wife Rae. Grandchildren are Brad, Scott, and Kristen, Matthew and Kelley Fooshee, Niki, Jami, Robbie, and Mardy Fooshee, Kym and Jeremy Ferachi, and Tara and Anthony Schiro. Great grandchildren are Kate, Will, Jack, Oliver, Austin, Tanner, Connor, Beau, Brennan, and Mallory Fooshee; Mason and Luke Ferachi; and Graham and Bentley Schiro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Lucy Fooshee; siblings Olga Simmons, Dorothy Metcalfe, Mary Valentine, Grover Fooshee, Emily Bentley, Jackie Chase, and Hugh Fooshee. Pallbearers will be Sylvester Girior, Robert Allen Fooshee II, Dexter Stevens, Scott Fooshee, Matthew Fooshee, Anthony Schiro, and Jeff Travis. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Jackson Second Baptist Church from 3pm until 9pm and then on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 9am until funeral services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Paul Taylor, Rev. Jeremy Ferachi, and Rev. Raymond Taylor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Special thanks to his caregiver Shirley Sibley for everything. Also to his niece Dana Travis for all the love and support in his final days. And special thanks to nephew Steven Fooshee for honoring the family by playing Taps for the service.
