Rosa Mary "Rosie"  Yantis
Rosa Mary Varnado Yantis, “Rosie”, 79, a resident of Zachary, LA, died at her home on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. She was retired, after working for over 45 years as a registered nurse. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 1pm until services at 2pm, conducted by Rev. Tommy French. Burial will be at Shaw-McHugh Cemetery. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Loudon David Yantis; three sons: Loudon “Don” Yantis, Jr and his wife Melinda Junkins Yantis of Amite, LA; R. Brent Yantis of Bunkie, LA; W. Craig Yantis and his wife Linda Miller Yantis of Zachary; two brothers, Glenn Varnado of Portland, OR; Gary Varnado and his wife Mary of Kentwood, LA; thirteen grandchildren: Lawrence Yantis and his wife Amanda, Jarred Yantis, Samantha Yantis, Hannah Brooks and her husband Matt, Levi Yantis, Jeremy Yantis, Hope Yantis, Jessee Yantis, Jordan Yantis, Caleb Yantis, Rebecca Yantis, Joshua Yantis, and Sarah Yantis; and great-granddaughter Laurel Yantis. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Otto Varnado; her mother, Irma Warren Varnado, her brothers, Norman Varnado and Fred Varnado; and her sister, Ina Wheat. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Yantis, Joshua Yantis, Jarred Yantis, Levi Yantis, Jeremy Yantis, Caleb Yantis, and Charles Abbot Jr. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University. Her nursing career encompassed all aspects of the hospital setting, teaching nursing students while on faculty at NLSC (now ULM) and home health nursing. She was a beloved nurse, wife, grandmother and lover of yellow roses.
