Robert Carl Forbes was born on Thursday, January 24, 1929, and passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the age of 86. He lived his entire life by these simple words found in Micah 6:8, “Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly.” He was a husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who loved the Lord and his family with a gracious, committed heart full of wisdom always serving and taking care of the needs of others. Carl retired in 1985 after 37 years at Exxon Mobil. He served Sandy Creek Baptist Church his entire adult life, 33 years of it teaching Sunday School and helping to mold the lives of generations of young people. Carl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores Marlene Humphrey Forbes, sister, Roberta Forbes Kelly, children and spouses, Robert McClain ‘Mac’ and Debe Forbes, Ronnie and Pam Forbes, Donna and Bill Wilkins, and Jill and David Baggett; grandchildren, Bradley Carl Forbes, Jeremy Forbes, Kris Wilkins, Colt Wilkins, Tyler Baggett and Reagan Baggett; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Forbes, Kayden Wilkins, Lane Forbes, Logan Forbes, Landry Forbes, Levi Carl Wilkins, Daisy Wilkins, Reid Kelly and Layton Dousay. His family would like to thank The Crossing at Clarity Hospice for the care and comfort given to him and his loved ones during the last week of his life. He enjoyed sitting on his back porch spending time with his loved ones, working in his shop and with his cows, and spending time in the hay fields teaching his grandsons the value of hard work and how to be a family. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that in Carl’s memory, you find someone in need and spend time doing your best to fulfill it.
