Obituary for Edna Marie Lea "Mae Mae" Edwards

Edna Marie Lea Edwards (Mae Mae) 60, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from complications of Parkinson’s. Marie loved her flowers and enjoyed time spent with her family. She was a native of Winnsboro, Louisiana born to parents, Barney and Joann Freeman Lee. She retired from Eastern Louisiana State Hospital after 30 years of service. She is survived by her mother, Joann Lea, three children, Steven Edwards and wife, Alice, Holli Gilmore and husband, Noel and Cory Edwards and fiancée’ Tiffany. Four grandchildren, Ashton Gilmore, Blaice Gilmore, Hunter Edwards and Ysabella Edwards. Two brothers, Stanley Lea and fiancée’ Loretta and Barry Lea and wife, Carolyn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Marvin Edwards, an infant daughter and her father, Barney B. Lea. She also had many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be at Second Baptist Church, Jackson on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 9am until 2pm service conducted by Rev. Clark Fooshee, Rev. Sylvester Giroir and Rev. Ed. Jelks. Burial will be in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Blaice Gilmore, Hunter Edwards, Cole Lea, Justin Lea, Jay Edwards and Brian Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Lea and Ronald Brumley.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Ollie Brumley who has been her friend, caregiver and support for the past three years, along with Loretta Serhouse and Virginia Steele. It was the kindness and care by these three women that allowed our mother to spend her last days comfortably at home with her mother and family by her side. We would also like to acknowledge the Edwards family for always loving her like a sister.
